According to the birth indexes for George Wilson  and Robert Van Wicklin, the parents are John Gordon and Elizabeth (Wilson) Van Wicklin. There is also a death registration for an Elizabeth Van Wicklin, b. Toronto, [ R#17750], d. 8 March 1897 at age 52 years. Of Cramahe, wife of farmer. Died of consumption. Person reporting death was Edward A. Van Wicklin.) For some time Emily Goldsmitt, (b. 1843 in Sidney) 29 December 1863, Northumberland County, Ontario, Can. was thought to be a first wife of John^7 Gordon Van Wicklin. However, subsequent research by Joyce Carr [sent via 10 July 2013 email] demonstrates that Emily Goldsmith married John Vansicklin [1939-1927] - Ontario, Canada Marriages [1801 - 1928]

Background information:

John^7 Gordon Van Wicklin
(Garret^6, Isaac^5, Paul^4, Garret^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes) was b. 1838 in Northumberland, Ont. He married Elizabeth Hannah Wilson. He d. 27 November 1890 in Cramahe Twp, Ontario. He purchased land in Cramahe Twp. in 1869. He built a house and farm on property in Cramahe Township near Little Lake on a knoll between Colbourne and Brighton, Ontario. On August 14, 1999 John and Barbara Van Wicklin of Houghton, NY visited Cramahe Township and stumbled upon “Van Wicklin Lane” and spoke with Marguerite^10 (Van Wicklin) Simpson, daughter of Gordon^9 Van Wicklin and Granddaughter of Edward^8, son of John^7 Gordon. She grew up in the farmhouse which still stands on Van Wicklin Lane, but she now lives in an adjacent house. We also visited the Salem Church Cemetery, 2 miles east of Colbourne on Rt. 2, which contains the graves of Edward, David C., and Gordon and spouses as well as Marguerite’s husband D. Arthur SIMPSON.

Children: Edward^8 A. Van Wicklin b. 19 February 1866 and died 1937, bur. in Salem Church Cemetery. Edward m. Mary Ann Dubuke who was b. 28 December 1867 and died 1931. Elizabeth^8 Phoebe Van Wicklin, b. 1869. George^8 Wilson Van Wicklin, b. 14 March 1876 and d. 17 June 1898 at age 22 (see death registration in source section below.) Robert^8 Van Wicklin born 17 September 1878 in Ontario, and died 2 June 1914 at age 33 years. He was single and a farmer. He died of pulmonary phthisis in West Toronto.
